iPhone Apps

Some cool and usable iPhone apps:

Sherwin Williams Color Snap and Benjamin Moore Color Capture: Ever been somewhere and see a color you love and want that color to use in your own home? These apps will allow you to use a picture and then it will suggest a color that matches it and also provide coordinating and contrasting colors.

myPantone: The entire Pantone color library on your phone. It will let you create custom color palettes and share them online.

iHandy Level: Need to see if that picture you hung is straight? This free app will tell you.

Craigsphone: Craigslist for your iPhone. This would be useful for spending a day hitting garage sales and estate sales.

SwedeShop: Allows you to create lists and record bin numbers and aisle locations for items you want to purchase at IKEA. It also will tabulate your total cost so there is no sticker shock at the register.

Epicurious: At the store and don't know what to cook for dinner? This app lets you search through all of epicurious.com's food and drink recipies. It will also let you create shopping lists and give you step by step cooking instructions.

WhatTheFont: Out and about and see a sign with a font that you would like to use? Take a picture and this app will tell you what font it is.

Mid-Century furniture for sale on Craigslist

Since we have acquired our new dining room table, the Architect and I are selling our retro 50s dinette table.

Update: The dinette has been sold.

We are also selling our Charles Pfister-style sofa and club chairs. I hate to see these go, but we just don't have room for them anymore due to new acquisitions over the holidays.

A new addition

Ever since we moved into our house, we have been looking for a new dining room table. Our living/dining area is essentially one large room and could accommodate a pretty large dining table. After months of searching we finally found a table last March that we both could agree on. We decided on a custom built table from Bruce Marsh Designs in Brooklyn, NY. In August while we were in NYC for a wedding, we met with Bruce and picked out the wood, style, and dimensions of the table. The result is below.

This is the crate the table came in. The crate was so large it would not fit through our front door.






Here's the top of the table.







Wait, this is suspiciously looking like an IKEA project...







The legs are joined to the top of the table with the bolts you see above. Very simple and easy construction.

The finished product! The table is 10 feet long and can sit up to 4 people per side. It is made out of solid walnut with a tung oil finish. The chairs are vintage Eames fiberglass shell chairs that I purchased on Craigslist.
